I am not a crook!

So, I did state in a previous blog that the new "arelle" line would be available for online purchasing in mid-December...I kinda lied. It will be up by mid-January. Why the delay? The "arelle" line actually got such great reviews, that 80% of the entire line was sold at our AWJ Showroom private event this past Saturday! We were expecting it to be a hit-and it turned out to be a BIG hit. So stay tuned for the new addition of the "arelle" line on the the AWJ website in the near future. Until then, fantasize about all the great jewelry you will be able to purchase at super affordable prices!

Muchas Gracias

AWJ has a lot to be thankful for. I would like to express a special thanks to all of our stylish supporters, family and friends! AWJ will continue to donate portions of its proceeds to RHD to carry on our commitment of raising awareness and social service. My friends and I also participated in FannieMae's 21st annual Help the Homeless Walkathon in the District this past Saturday. I hope this event brings us one step closer to solving the major issue of homelessness in the District. Please remember to reach out to others this Thanksgiving who are in need. We need to always remember to help one another; it's how we grow as individuals and as a community.

Sound the alarm!

AWJ is in the process of developing a new line. Hmmm? What kinds of things will you soon be able to purchase from the new "arelle" line? Well, fun, trendy and chic fashion jewelry of course! I have been dabbling in the use of different metals and materials, and have come up with some contemporary and fresh designs. I have two main reasons for creating a new line: to share with the world that, "Fashion is how people express themselves. It doesn't mean luxury." as Diane von Furstenberg so eloquently put it; and that people can still support and afford handmade as opposed to assembly line, machine made jewelry. You can have signature AWJ pieces that are still great on quality and on the wallet.

I know some say, "jewelry is not a necessity", but to them i respond with a bunch of raspberries! Expensive jewelry and investment pieces may not be a necessity, but the ability to adorn yourself with an unique and chic pair of quality handcrafted earrings is! Why? Because it allows you to express your individuality without breaking the bank while supporting handmade. Everyone deserves a treat! The "arelle" line is your sugar rush!

It is always important to support artists in this world. Personally, so much love, attention to detail, and time goes into all of my creations. I strive to make my clients happy and I want them to continue to come back for more! My pieces are special because there is limited production, and now, the "arelle" line is able to reach a broader base that would have never thought they could get chic affordable handcrafted jewelry. And, if the "arelle" line is your thing- remember, once you are ready for that investment piece(s)...the AWJ line is ready to oblige.

Here is sneak peek of some of the Winter 2008/Spring 2009 collection from my studio.

The "arelle" line will be available for online purchase in mid December, the line will debut on December 6th at a private showing. If you have any questions or want to learn more, please go to the contact us section on the AWJ website.

While you were waiting...

So...long time? Well, I have been rather busy moving AWJ headquarters and creating new finale collections for this year and gearing up for 2009! Check out the AWJ website for new additons. While on a blog hiatus, I was also creating some commissioned pieces. This is one of my favorites.

Rockstar

Today, I decided that it would be cool to be able to "rock out". Unfortunately, I neither have a guitar (in my mind this is necessary), leather pants that fit and would make me look lethal, and/or a 'rock song" of my very own-also very essential to wanting to "rock out". Therefore, I will continue to listen to the music of others who have, in my opinion, successfully rocked out, and I will lose myself in their music. Who will I be listening to? Well, I must admit I have a huge range of likes when it comes to music. So to name a few, that will accompany me today on my creative journey of making jewelry will be the likes of Joan Baez, Cheryl Wheeler, good ole Dolly, and perhaps Jason Mraz, Linda Ronstadt and the Wicked soundtrack???"Good News!" What can I say, I am feeling a little socially aware, passionate, romantic and who doesn't like Dorothy's blingy red shoes?
